Groundskeeper
Walker Hackensack Akeley School is seeking a Groundskeeper. This position runs from approximately mid April to the end of October (weather depending).
Essential Duties include:

Set up of irrigation systems and controls to athletic fields

Set up of sporting events-dragging/lining fields
-
Mows lawns and athletic fields, trims, weed control, raking, shoveling
-
Prepares soil for overseeding, applies fertilizers and pesticides/herbicides as directed

Performs routine maintenance on power equipment-oil & filter change, blade sharpening
-
Garbage Removal after events
-
Other related duties as assigned
Training and Experience:
-
High School diploma or equivalent
-
Previous experience in grounds and athletic field maintenance set up preferred, but not required
Knowledge and Skills;
-
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions

Ability to work independently and have excellent time management skills

Previous knowledge of laying out and lining athletic fields as required

Operation of various types of power equipment such as, but not limited to, zero turn mower, tractor, Bobcat, backpack blowers, track blowers, trimmers

Ability to use hand tools required for field and landscaping repairs
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and kneeling

Must be physically able to operate power equipment safely and responsibly
Wage based on the Maintenance scale of the Custodial Union contract; $22-25/hour.
