Children’s Ministry Director

Position Summary: The Children’s Ministry Director is to work collaboratively with other church staff to develop a ministry that introduces children to faith in Christ, creates an opportunity to grow in their faith, and experience healthy, loving relationships. Program oversight includes nursery, Sunday school/children’s church, release time, and VBS. The primary aim is not necessarily to work directly with children, but to recruit, train, equip, and resource volunteers who will. 

Role Outline:
● Professes faith in our Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
● Has read and is aligned to the Calvary Evangelical Free Church Statement of Faith.
● Regular Calvary attendance and willingness to complete membership, if not already.
● A people person with good communication skills and ability to recruit and train volunteers.
● Preference is given toward an education and/or experience in ministry, education, or administration. 

Responsibilities:
● Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Children’s Ministry (Nursery through 5th Grade), ensuring a safe, engaging, and gospel-centered environment.
● Work with Calvary staff to recruit, train, equip, resource, and supervise volunteers for the Children’s Ministry.
● Plan and implement curriculum, ensuring alignment with the church’s vision and biblical teaching.
● Manage the Children’s Ministry budget, including tracking expenses, purchasing supplies, and ensuring responsible financial stewardship.
● Develop and maintain clear communication strategies, including emails, texts, and phone calls with volunteers, parents, and church staff.
● Organize and maintain volunteer schedules, including Sunday services, midweek programs, and special events.
● Oversee inventory control, ensuring all ministry supplies, classroom materials, and equipment are well-stocked and organized.
● Maintain and update the church calendar and manage volunteer scheduling through Planning Center software.
● Lead Children’s Ministry Team meetings, providing vision, encouragement, and clear direction for volunteers and team leaders.
● Attend staff meetings, ministry team meetings, and congregational meetings to align Children’s Ministry goals with the broader mission of the church.
● Promote Children’s Ministry programs within the church and community, utilizing social media, church bulletins, and other communication platforms.

Supervision/Accountability The direct report for this position is the Discipleship & Youth Pastor. The position is ultimately responsible to the Elder Board, and the congregation. Evaluation will take place three months after employment and yearly thereafter. 

Hours/Financial
● Hours per week: 15-20
● Regular hours are: ○ Sunday mornings 8am-12pm ○ One-on-one with Discipleship Pastor: Tuesdays 10am-11am
○ Staff meeting: Tuesdays 11am-12:30pm
○ Monthly Release Time events
○ Other in office hours can be flexible, upon request
● Compensation: $18 per hour
● Start time: at once

Employment Basis This position is an “at will” position which means employment can be terminated by either party at any time, for any legal reason. Calvary requests a one month notice from the employee offering their resignation. Calvary will provide a month's notice before termination unless there is the presence of adverse circumstances which require immediate termination.
