Cleaner
Location: Walker Area Community Center, Walker, MN
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Type: Full-time 40 hour (salary)
Pay Range: $17/hr
The Walker Area Community Center (WACC) is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team. The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment inside the facility and on surrounding grounds. This role is critical to the center’s daily operations and may include minor maintenance and occasional responsibility for securing the facility.
Facility Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect all floors and surfaces in public and private spaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, kitchen areas, and drinking fountains.
- Dust furniture, windows, vents, and other surfaces as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal.
- Move, set up, and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings, rentals, and events.
- Clean up after events, including spills, trash removal, and resetting spaces.
- Refill soap, paper towel dispensers, and other consumables.
- Perform general upkeep of entryways, sidewalks, and outdoor areas, including snow shoveling, trash pickup, and sweeping as needed.
- Identify and report any facility damage or maintenance issues.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor repairs).
- Monitor cleaning and maintenance supply inventory.
- Assist in ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
- May be responsible for opening or locking up the facility, depending on shift.
- May serve as the only on-site staff member during evening or weekend hours.
- Ensure safety protocols and security procedures are followed while on duty.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in custodial, cleaning, or facility maintenance roles preferred.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking for long periods.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and proper handling.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible shifts as needed.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to be part of a team-oriented environment.
- Must pass a background check.
- Indoor and outdoor work, including exposure to cleaning agents, varying temperatures, and physical tasks.
- May involve contact with community members, vendors, or event guests.
